Gatherers are not Evangelists – distinction 1
Gatherers are not evangelists in at least three ways.
First, they do not necessarily share the entirety of the gospel. They don’t give a gospel presentation to unsaved people as we would commonly think an evangelist would.
Gatherers gather people who need to hear about and know Jesus Christ. Gatherers bring the unsaved into the church family. The spiritual community then makes sure the unsaved person hears about Jesus and has the opportunity to commit to the Lordship of Christ and be discipled.
This is a very liberating thing. We all live under 2 Timothy 4:5 “But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (NASB). Gatherers do too, but gatherers bring people so that gifted evangelists and teachers can present the truth of the gospel with people who need to hear.
It is amazing to see gifted individuals work to their strengths.
Who could you liberated to gathering?
What might happen if you simply let them know this?
